Working nationally to help protect young people

Safe & Sound Derby works in partnership with national organisations and networks to speak up for young people who are sexually exploited and to share knowledge and good practice. For example:

  • We were part of the stakeholders' group that helped the Government to develop the 2009 'Safeguarding Children and Young People from Sexual Exploitation' guidelines.
  • We liaise with the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and Department for Education about national strategies to address child sexual exploitation
  • We inform the work of the UK Human Trafficking Centre (UKHTC) regarding internal trafficking of children for sexual exploitation
  • We work with the Police on issues surrounding child sexual exploitation and law enforcement.
  • Through justWhistle we run the Safe & Sound? National Conference - an annual event that regularly attracts some 150 senior practitioners working in the field of safeguarding children and public protection
  • Our social enterprise subsidiary - justWhistle - is helping to encourage more practical action across the UK to help prevent Child Sexual Exploitation
